Atlanta Weddings

macy & connor

What a way to finish our 2020 weddings! Sweet Meadow Farm is such a charming barn venue unlike any that I’ve experienced and Macy and Connor were such a delight to work with.

Sweet Meadow Farm and Homeplace is located in Tallapoosa, Georgia about an hour West of Atlanta. It’s 160 acres boasts fields, forest, creeks and ponds and at the heart of it all- a beautiful farmhouse for overnight guests and a historic barn furnished with some truly charming furniture and decor.

As a wedding photographer, Macy had a clear vision for her wedding day and made the planning process so straight forward. She had shot a wedding previously at Sweet Meadow and had no doubt that Sweet Meadow was where she wanted to host her own wedding. She incorporated so many fun elements into the day including a Live Painter , darling VW photo bus and Marquee letters for the dance floor!

When did you first know you wanted to be a wedding planner?

  • I have known I wanted to work in weddings for as long as I could remember!  As a kid playing dress up, I was always the bride. Back then my parents asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I said be a wedding planner, and that never changed.

What are some questions brides should ask when looking for a planner?

  • How involved will you be in my planning process?

  • This is my vision, have you done weddings with a similar style and if so what was something that stood out about one of those?

What is your favorite aspect of working weddings?

  • Working weddings is helping put on the best day of someone's life and there is nothing more rewarding than that!

What would you tell someone who didn’t think they needed a planner?

  • Enjoy the day with your family!  A lot of the time when brides opt out of a planner tasks will fall on family members or close friends.  They want to partake in the celebration and you will want to remember the memories of being with them on that day.

What has been your favorite trend you’ve come across in the wedding world?

  • I honestly love a groom’s cake!  I think it is such a fun way to bring some of his personality to the wedding. I’ve seen cakes shaped like sports mascots, fish, cars

Chocolate of Vanilla Cake?

Chocolate!

Live Band of DJ?

Live Band always!

Favorite flower?

Calla Lily

Maggie and Chris were a dream to work with. With my due date for baby girl and an 8 week maternity leave stuck right in the middle of our planning, they stuck by me as I navigated my new role as mom/wedding planner. I am so blessed to have such amazing clients that believe in my work and trust my abilities. After my leave of absence, we had 6 weeks to wrap up details for their wedding day and with an amazing group of vendors by our side, these final preparations were seamless.

Maggie and Chris were referred along to me by a groomsmen of theirs, Brandon in which my husband and I met playing kickball with mutual friends. I also helped plan said mutual friends wedding (see Hannah and Jeff’s wedding here) in which Brandon was also a groomsmen. Now I just need Brandon to go ahead and get engaged himself so we can plan his wedding ;)

but back to Maggie and Chris and their beautiful wedding day….

Aside from their amazing vendor team, there were so many details I loved about their wedding. From their Grooms cake that was modeled after their dog, Merlin to Maggie wearing a redesigned version of her mothers wedding gown, there were just SO many well thought out, personal details included which made their wedding extra special.

Their welcome bags for guests were acrylic game day bags and guests from out of town all went to cheer on their alma mater, Ga-Tech in football upon their Thursday arrival- I mean how fun is that?

And you’ll have to scroll if nothing else, just to see their personalized favors- Old Bay Seasoned Potato chips (a homage to Chris’ home state of Maryland) with their faces on the bags!
