nicole & ryan - an intimate brewery wedding

I always love when my Atlanta and Asheville worlds collide and that was just the case for Nicole and Ryan’s wedding back in February! Nicole and Ryan live in Atlanta but were visiting Asheville for Ryan’s birthday in February of 2018 when they came across Gingers Revenge, A Ginger Beer Brewery in North Asheville. While enjoying a ginger beer, they simply thought- let’s get married here… and so their plans to do so began! They chose an intimate Leap Day wedding with 50 of their closest family and friends and Like the Dazzling was thrilled to provide coordination for this sweet couple.

This wedding was extra special because of this amazing couple but also because it was our first wedding of 2020 and the wedding that would kick off our Spring Wedding Season. Fast forward to today, May 8th and Nicole and Ryan’s wedding has been our ONLY wedding of 2020. Usually this time of year we find ourselves longing for a weekend off but because of COVID-19 , we now find ourselves with too many free weekends and no place to go.

sydney & andrew, a wedding in the mountains

Sydney and Andrew woke up and began their wedding day with an early morning hike. While I know that it made for a long day for them, I absolutely love that they incorporated their love for hiking into their day, truly making it their own.

They began their early morning together around 8am. Sydney in her dress, Andrew in his suit- both in hiking boots as they read personal vows to one another amongst the quiet of the mountains. Sheila Nolt soon met them to take their couples portraits before they headed back down into the city to get ready for their ceremony and reception amongst family and friends at Heavens Cloud Event Center.

Sophie McArdle, our Asheville associate planner and assistant, Kimberly spent the afternoon at Heavens Cloud greeting vendors, setting personal decor and ensuring that every detail was perfect for Andrew and Sydney’s day. This was a unique planning experience in that Andrew and Sydney live in Atlanta but chose a destination wedding in Asheville to be amongst the mountains and one of their favorite cities. This gave Like the Dazzling the opportunity to plan with them from both of our home cities which was so fun! I (Hannah) personally got to know Sydney and Andrew over the course of planning here in Atlanta with many a meeting over coffee & tea at Taproom in Kirkwood and was truly so sad to miss their wedding myself but knew they were in the best of hands with Sophie in Asheville.

The weather was gorgeous, the food incredible and the atmosphere, exuberant. Sydney and Andrew, thank you for entrusting Like the Dazzling with such an important day. We loved being part of your wedding and wish you all the joy in the world.

victoria & billy, an intimate old edwards inn wedding

Victoria and I met at a Tuesday’s Together meeting a couple years back when I was just getting comfortable here in Atlanta as a wedding planner. I was excited to learn about her business Paces Lane, which provides custom goods for brides and their wedding parties during the incredibly fun season of engagement from bachelorette to bridal showers and the fun events that fall between. We stayed in touch and have even had the opportunity to collaborate on some fun projects together over the years.

When Victoria reached out in search of a wedding coordinator for her intimate wedding at Old Edwards Inn, I was beyond excited because

a. It’s always fun working with friendors in this industry and even more special and really such an honor when asked to be part of such a personal event

b. Old Edwards Inn , need I say more?

Planning with Victoria was incredibly easy because let’s be honest, she is a party planner extraordinaire hence her success in her own business. Going into planning, her mindset was focused on keeping it intimate and minimal with the primary focus and excitement focused on their union in marriage. You’re probably thinking ‘Hannah, isn’t every wedding that way?’ and while yes, it should be , what I mean is Victoria was less concerned about the details and floof of planning than just making it official. Having hired many friendors for their wedding really made the process even more straight forward and beautiful. The cakes were hand delivered from Atlanta from Pastry Shells , the bouquets and boutonnieres also made and transported from Atlanta from Ginger Rose Flowers and the beautiful Photography you will see below by Heather K. Cook
